March 12, 2012First time in any format: Visit to a Chief' Son by Music Box Records, from a 1974 movie. Release is due for April 2012. Unique release!

September 11, 2011First time in CD format: Another Man, Another Chance (Un Autre Homme, Une Autre Chance) by Kritzerland, from a 1977 movie. The release is due for the second week of October. Good work Kritzerland!

January 6, 2011At the beginning of this year, there are two new CD compilations: F. Lai: Essential Film Music Collection by Silva America, and Claude Lelouch & Francis Lai: L'Integrale, a 2CD compilation by Play-Time.

November 16, 2010 - The latest soundtrack release with music by Francis Lai: Ces Amours-Là, seven tracks composed by him and the rest by Laurent Couson. The release comes with "Un Homme et une Femme" as a second disc.

April 29, 2010 - A new Japanese CD release 13 Jours en France, with new arrangements of soundtrack themes by Francis Lai and his Orchestra, with Lai at the accordion on the CD title.

February 25, 2010
- A new CD release of Baby Sitter, this time from Digitmovies and including an unreleased vocal version. Due to release in March 2010.

November 21, 2009
- A couple of updates with information on a songbook of Francis Lai piano solos and Love Story promotional music sheet provided by  Koichi Matsui, and information on a programme of a concert from 1971.

July 23, 2009
- Finally, some updates. If you check the official site, you will find information on a couple of projects Mr. Lai is working on, hopefully we'll get more details soon. In the meantime, some information that I gathered recently. Edith Piaf disc 5 of a boxset contains 6 tracks performed live composed by Francis Lai, this CD was released in 2007. Thanks to my friend Koichi Matsui, that provided me with the Astral Journeys CD that probably is the CD release of Cosmos LP.

January 6, 2009 - Happy new year. And to start this year with the right foot, thanks to the help of Evgeny Romantsov, I have created a new section: Songbooks and Music sheets. So far, there is information on 8 songbooks, 2 music sheets and to top it all, the programme for the Filmharmonic 74. Not really a songbook, but didn't know where to put it, :-)

October 11, 2008 - Thanks to the help of Evgeny Romantsov for providing me the information for Paola Mei - Soul Souvenir CD. She sings 3 Francis Lai, Love Story in duo with Francis Lai, Second Time from Bilitis, twice! In English and in Italian and Hard to be Tender from Sins. Also for the cover for The Sex Symbol, an arrangement by Henry Mancini.

July 11, 2008 - Thanks to the help of Koichi Matsui for providing me the information for Bernard Dimey - Le Bestiaire de Paris CD, now we have the poems for Dimey in the Non Soundtracks section, plus Paroles by Jacques Prevert.

December 16, 2007 - Thanks to the help of Murat Akinci for providing me the information for Nini Rosso's LP performing Francis Lai compositions.

- Thanks to the help of Evgeny Romantsov for providing me the information for original compositions of Francis Lai for Navah. The booklet contained the lyrics in English I have copy the lyrics too.

September 4, 2007 - Again, thanks to the help of Mr. Koichi Matsui for providing me the information for original compositions of Francis Lai for Japanese performers: this time with Tokiko Kato from her CD La femme qui vient de Cypango. The booklet contained the lyrics in French so I have copy the lyrics too. Enjoy! And thanks for all fans for their support.

- Thanks to the help of Mr. Koichi Matsui for providing me the information for original compositions of Francis Lai for Japanese performers: Saori Yuki (Otoko no Kokoro) and Dark Ducks (Ai no Meruhen). Also, two cover versions of the music from Love Story by Neil Richardson and his Orchestra, and by Hollywood Sound Stage Orchestra, information kindly provided by Evgeny Romantsov, thank you.

August 23th 2006 - A small update with the lyrics from La Fontaine, plus the information on that release and Mama Bea renditions of Edith et Marcel themes. Also, information on several single releases with at least one track composed by Francis Lai. And don't forget to check the Live Scores companion site with video appearances of film scores, including Francis Lai!

Last month, was released a new soundtrack from Mr. Lai: Le Courage d'Aimer. It looks like the continuation to Les Parisiens.
 
July 3rd 2005  - Lyrics to The World Should be Ours and corrected lyrics to Alaska, both songs from Racco Monogatari (The Story of a Raccoon) and also an update on the complete track listings for that soundtrack release. Also, transcribed the lyrics for Lovers from Plastic Tree. Still need some reworking but at least is something ....

February 21st 2005  - The Collaborators section has another entry. A small biography and recording information on Nick Hamilton, who has worked with Francis Lai on songs such as Love in my Eyes, Smile and the recent film Plastic Tree

February 11th, 2005  - There are new entries on the Collaborators section. A biography has been posted of Christian Gaubert and Jean Musy. Also at last, we have the cover from Plastic Tree, kindly provided by Michael T. Roe who also wrote a wonderful bio on Musy. 

January 27th, 2005  -  Small update with a listing of Paul Mauriat's cover versions  on Francis Lai songs with a view of the different covers

January 18th, 2005  -  Three new entries in the Cover Versions section: Mes Grands Succes by Nicole Martin, Je Suis Celle by Peggy Moore and Living Scat Elegance by Ishu Kayo. Also, I'm been informed of a promo release of the corean movie Plastic Tree composed by Francis Lai with lyrics by Nick Hamilton. Track listings are shown but no cover yet.

January 5th, 2005  -  Happy New Year to everyone !   I hope you all started this brand new year in a great way. After the long weekend I have been checking the changes that I made on the last update and corrected minor things but found one major one. The email address had an extra character, I am very sorry for that. It has been corrected now. If you notice anything that needs correction in typing or in the information provided please let me know, this is a one-man operation and only thru the help of other users I can improve this site.

December 29th, 2004  -  A major redesign on this site and a check on all pages is complete. The new navigation menu on the left side will allow to add more sections as required. Compilations have been separated from the Non Soundtracks. Also check the links on the headers on each sections that now have clips from covers and they can direct you to that particular recording. Please let me know if you have suggestions on how to improve this site !  

October 24th, 2004  -  The discography has been updated with the information from Lai's latest cd: Le Parisiens - Le Genre Humain Volume 1. Also many lyrics from songs in english and spanish has been transcribed by me, from the boxset. There are still some minor corrections, so if anyone has something to comment please do so to the email address provided in the left side.
I also have transcriptions of two italian songs by Milva but I need the help of someone who is familiar with italian language, because these transcriptions will require a massive correction !

August 12th, 2004  -  According to an Interview to Nick Garrie (known on "Love in My Eyes" track as Nick Hamilton), he co-wrote with Francis Lai the main title for a korean movie entitled "Plastic Tree" which was released last year. There are a couple of references to other works with Francis Lai. Thanks Michael for the link.

June 13th, 2004  -  Tracks from the Francis Lai Boxset, and updated the links on the soundtracks pages.

May 27th, 2004  -  A poll has been created asking about your favorite soundtrack ... besides Love Story and A Man and a Woman !
And the great news !  Four members (including me) of the Francis Lai Yahoo Group have made the first book about Francis Lai and his music (at least, that I know about...) and besides, it is free for all members of the group. By the way, the subscription is free.

May 2nd, 2004  -  I have added some lyrics from an old songbook, check the Lyrics Section under  Other Stuff  menu. So far, 12 soundtracks are included and four songs not from soundtracks.

April 26th, 2004  -  Today, April 26th, we are celebrating the Maestro's 72th birthday. Let us toast for his good health and the many happy moments we had and will have more, listening to his music. Let's play some music from the Maestro, while drinking a glass of vine with a good view ! I'm sure he is celebrating with his many friends with a great view of the Eiffel Tower.

April 7th, 2004  -  The Francis Lai  Boxset will be launched on April 19th, pre-orders will be autographed by the Maestro himself. The boxset will consist of 14 CDs. Visit 123 Music for more information and price details.

March 24th, 2004  -  Ripoux 3, a double CD soundtrack was released.

January 27th, 2004  -  The production of Love and Freedom is on hold, let's hope things  work out for this young composer and at the same time, we could listen to another piece of Mr. Lai's music. The interview to the Italian composer  Marko Werba is at  Film Music on the Web.

November 28th, 2003  -  Mr. Francis Lai is working on the music of a new Lelouch film Homme Genre and also had composed a love theme for the movie Love and Freedom, with orchestration of composer Marco Werba and the addition of Werba's own themes also. The music should be recorded early next year.

October 28th, 2003  -  A new section:  Francis Lai forum. Check it at my scififilmmusic domain and check other film composer's forums as well.

Also, don't forget to visit the official Francis Lai site for news on the 15 CD set that is set due for next November. They are taking pre-orders right now and the pre-orders will have their sets autographed by Mr. Lai himself, so don't miss them.

October 17th, 2003  -  Two new additions: Des Hommes Des Femmes, songs of Francis Lai, french release and Gold Stucke, german release. Not new releases, but I wasn't aware of these releases. 

July 17th, 2003  -  Look at the first input at the new section: Fan's Corner. Check a great picture of Mr. Lai and a great fan and see how you can contribute with your comments on Mr. Lai's music.

June 4th, 2003  -  Here's a new section: Fan's Corner. It will include your comments on Mr. Lai's music, with up to 3 pages for every fan !

March 23, 2003  -  It took me eight months for this update of the site, but finally here it is. There is more information, covers and in few weeks more scans from the Japanese CD releases.
Also, I have created a page for the Soundtracks CD releases.

July 15, 2002  -  Added other covers from A Fistful of Soundtracks and from Italian Soundtracks.

July 7, 2002  -  Wow ! Not a day since the launching and has already added a lot of soundtrack album's infos from Sean Mallory's website  A Fistful of Soundtracks. Also, I have rearranged the listing in the Soundtrack area, following the timeline from the Filmography of the Official Site.
